SYNOPSIS OF TOPWORLD

By

Kevin M. Kraft

A teenage girl emerges from a collapsed cave at a construction site in upstate New York, very pale, wearing strange clothing and speaking an unknown language. When she’s hospitalized with minor injuries, medical professionals find her to be combative, with an aversion to being touched.

Assigned to manage her case is RON PETERSON a caseworker for the Halley-Byrd Institute, embittered by the disappearance of his adopted daughter and his recent divorce from his wife. Upon encountering the girl he attempts to earn her trust with limited success...

Until, that is, two strangers track the girl to the hospital, wielding strange weapons and technology. Desperate to bridge the communication gap between herself and Ron, and to alert him to the imminent danger at hand, the girl initiates a telepathic bond that at once enables them to breach the communcation barrier and understand one another.

After barely avoiding capture, Ron learns that the otherworldly ELIYSO, is an escaped slave from an subterranean civilization. Balos and Wilana, her “overseers”,  seeks to reclaim her. What’s more, the “joining” Ellie initiated isn’t merely telepathic, but has established a progressively symbiotic relationship neither one can resist. Can he get her to the only place of freedom before Balos and Wilana catch up to them? And will they be able to part if they succeed?
