CONCEPT

Holly Stephenson, 13, loves starships and space battle history, probably due to the fact that her father, Richard, is a lieutenant colonel in Earth’s Interstellar Defense, where he designs starship defense systems. Home schooled by their mother, Julia, Holly and little brother Noah often await the periodic return home from duty of their father, even at this the end of an interstellar war. And they get their wish, when he returns, promising a weekend of fun and family. Plans are dashed, however, when both Dad and Mom are recalled to duty that very night, and they leave the kids in the capable hands of the family sentry droid. During the wee hours, Holly concocts a plan to hold their parents to their word by venturing to their location: Terelli Prime. Stealing away in the darkness, the kids make their way to the space base and blackmail a freighter pilot, Quozzo, to take them to their parents. Ironically, Quozzo is freighting the I.D.S. Bradbury, a heretofore- decommissioned  battleship, which has begun a refit to become an automated drone to patrol the demilitarized system where salvagers, pirates, have begun using the lax, end-war security to appropriate military vessels.

Things spin out of control, when Quozzo’s ship falls under attack by pirates. Quozzo and Noah escape in an escape pod to Oblivia Two  a hostile nearby planet, and, just before the freighter is destroyed, Holly manages to escape into the protection of the Bradbury.  Both she and the warship emerge unscathed. Now the space around Oblivia Two becomes the proving ground for Holly and the Bradbury, as she uses her wits and the limited battle systems of the Bradbury to resist the Reticulan pirates bent on seizing her father’s ship, led by the coldhearted, Aria Krait, herself only a child, while Noah and Quozzo struggle to reach a communication system on Oblivia Two, before a searing fiery cyclone or the slathering jaws of one of the planet’s predators seals their fate. Will the Stephensons survive to ever see Dad and Mom again?

Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks, was written specifically for actress, Holliston Coleman, after her parents lamented the lack of quality and appropriate acting roles for their talented young daughter to accept. “What a ride!” came back the enthusiastic response from the family, along with a desire to see the screenplay produced. It has since been rewritten to include Holli’s brother, Bobby Coleman, himself a rising star, and yet again to include actress, Jennette McCurdy, also a busy young talent and a friend of the Colemans, after her several of her television performances were seen, and it was discovered the three actors have always wanted to work together.

Captain Redlocks seeks to offer a truly moviegoing experience, combining awonderful story contained in an entertaining screenplay, first-rate actors and special visual and sound effects that will have audiences covering their eyes and ears...and running out of the theater saying, “Let’s go see it again!”

While Captain Redlocks is an “effects movie” filled with what will surely be groundbreaking visual effects, what sets it apart is its emphasis on memorable characters, laugh-out-loud humor and hair-raising danger. As one of our associates put it, “it isn’t as cartoonish” as other family fair, and it raises the bar where live-action, family-oriented motion pictures are concerned. Excellence and broad appeal remains the focus and the outcome. And while too many family pictures include, out of some absurd obligation, some “adult” content, obligatory profanity or “that one graphically violent scene”, Redlocks commands a wide audience without stooping to include these objectionable elements.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

INTRODUCTION

T E K  Productions currently seeks financing for the production and profitable distribution of the motion picture currently entitled Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks., a slam-bang science fiction action movie about a lone teenage girl, abandoned about an obsolete warship, who engages in a battle of wits—and photon torpedoes!—against space pirates bent on seizing her vessel. The screenplay has been in development for two years now and is ready for production.

A total production budget of $16.5 million is necessary to complete Captain Redlocks to a final distributable print, as well as distribution itself.

Investors are invited to contribute to all or a portion of this amount, with investment returns shared among all investors involved. Production can begin once enough funds to complete the picture has been raised.

In return for this investment, a non-controlling stake worth 50% will be offered from the gross profits of Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks. Initially, investors will as a group receive 100% of the motion picture’s profit until each investors’ principal is recouped, then 50% thereafter. Each investors’ share of the profits will be proportioned to his or her investment.

WHY CAPTAIN REDLOCKS?

Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks is a motion picture whose time has come: an honest-to-goodness excellent, exciting, original, live-action, family-oriented space opera that has already garnered a cult following: those who are weary of the movies coming out of Hollywood now. Again, Redlocks is not a kids’ picture, but a family picture,  and a conscious effort has been made to make it palatable for adults ad well as kids—a picture the whole family can truly enjoy without having to second-guess their choice to watch it. There has been nothing like Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks ever made. Smart, eye-popping and thoroughly entertaining, it’s a movie moviegoers will want to watch over and over again.

Space operas have performed quite well in the past, with classics like the Star Trek and Star Wars series.  Spy Kids has grossed $165M  worldwide. More recently, Zathura and The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lava Girl earned a combined $169M. With Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks described by some as “Star Trek meets Spy Kids,” and the fact that a real cult following for this movie has already emerged before the movie has even been made, the potential financial prospects become quite exciting.

CURRENT STATUS

Proving Ground: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks is currently in preproduction.

Kraft will continue what they have started.

While most of T E K’s movie projects will undoubtedly be original stories written by director, Kraft, it is also our desire to discover and develop talent outside our production company especially from young writers. SPECIAL SKILLS

Screenwriting, director, editing, casting

We at T E K  Productions are proud to be associated with one of the most impressive cinematographers in the motion pictures industry. Let us introduce you to:

andrew_shulkind

www.andrewshulkind.com

cybermaven@earthlink.net

At age twenty-one, Andrew received his BFA from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.  By the end of the year, he became the youngest admitted member of the camera union.  At twenty-two, he had a film at Sundance, and by twenty-four, he was working as a camera operator in Hollywood for such filmmakers as Jerry Bruckheimer, Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, and Michael Mann.  His energy, experience, acumen, and humor helped him earn early and continued success as a cinematographer, and increasingly as a director/DP.  No matter what hat he is wearing, Andrew likes people and works best in collaborations, where the best idea wins.  But Andrew has not advanced at such an accelerated pace by skipping steps.  He has a well-rounded background with stints in advertising, post-production, publicity, theatre, and has climbed his way up the camera department ladder.  Still in his late 20s, Andrew's credit list of high-profile features, commercials, videos, and television reads like a veritable "who's-who" of Hollywood's A-list.  He has worked on projects such as Artificial Intelligence, Panic Room, Terminator 3, West Wing, videos for Marilyn Manson and Counting Crows, and on commercials for Volkswagen, Chrysler, Pepsi, and Visa, among countless others.

A classic multi-hyphenate, Andrew calls upon his extensive technical experience and his unusual creative vision to persistently challenge the status quo with stunning images.  At first, with only low-budget credits, Andrew felt he lacked experience with bigger budgets, so he moved to Los Angeles and began climbing the ladder as a feature camera assistant.  From there, Andrew sought to work for the cinematographers whom he admired most.  He parlayed his position into one of a more personal capacity where he could cultivate relationships and learn from the best.  In so doing, he carved out a niche, studying under the mentorship of such well-known cinematographers as Darius Khondji, Janusz Kaminski, Amir Mokri, and Don Burgess.

Andrew is able to shape light in an exceptionally simple and unobtrusive way.  He has terrific understanding of contrast, angle, and pacing, which he uses to enrich stories in clever and innovative ways.  In fact, Kodak recently called upon him to shoot product demos for a newly released stock.  Having shot projects not only across the world, but all across the budget range, Andrew has made a name for himself maximizing production values to deliver a big-budget sheen, even under strict budget constraints.  He works nimbly on both sides of the film/video debate, and has even lead seminars for advanced cinematography and high-definition.  Besides his experience and talent, Andrew is a strong communicator and knows how to mobilize and motivate a crew to get everyone to give their best.  He is known as someone who knows the gear, shapes the look, and achieves the vision.

His work has not gone unnoticed and has screened at, among others, the Sundance Film Festival, New York First Run Film Festival, San Francisco Jewish Film Festival, Los Angeles Short Film Festival, Lake Placid Film Festival, Czech Int'l Film Festival, and the Canned Comedy Festival.  With each new project, he continues to prove his acuity and originality with film.  Andrew's dynamic visuals and storytelling talent have made him one of the most promising filmmakers today.

Holliston Coleman as Holly Stephenson/Captain Redlocks!

Holliston Coleman began acting at age four when, on her first theatrical audition, she booked a role written for a six year old.  Holliston was so convincing and articulate that despite no filming experience she booked the part of  Horace Bing's daughter on the popular and long-running television series Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman, with Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jane Seymour.  The part called for Holliston to master an extensive number of lines, to sing both in a group and solo, and to shed tears for her father.

Since then, Holliston has tackled a number of roles beyond her years.  At the age of six, she booked the title role as  "the Child" in the Paramount feature film Bless the Child, starring opposite Academy Award winner Kim Basinger.  The role was described in the breakdown by the Paramount features casting director as "perhaps the toughest role ever written for a six year old."  Holliston played an autistic child overwhelmed by messages from God and pursued by agents of evil.

As a largely silent autistic child on screen the majority of the film, Holliston had to communicate a vast emotional range with expression and posture.  One critic described her as having "dead-on instincts when acting with her face and body."  Her performance was hailed by critics nationwide, with the New York Times proclaiming her to be "enormously compelling … a real find."  People Magazine raved that "the best acting comes from Holliston, who brings real gravitas to her scenes."   Holliston received over sixty positive reviews nationwide. (See attached.)

Later, Holliston was selected from a national search to play the title role in a TNT film Miss Lettie and Me, filmed on location in Georgia, in which Holliston played opposite Mary Tyler Moore and Burt Reynolds, both Golden Globe and Emmy winners and Academy Award nominees.  The filming of Miss Lettie and Me was extremely demanding in that Holliston filmed every day of the shoot and was on screen most of the film.  She played Moore's feisty niece who has unexpectedly come to live with her.  The producer, Beth Poulson, noted that Holliston's maturity, focus, ability, and sweetness were so unusual that she would recommend Holliston to "any production, anytime."

Holliston also performed as the voice of Lilo's classmate Aleka in Disney's animated film Lilo & Stitch II.

Between films, Coleman continues to be offered extremely challenging roles in television dramas.  In Law and Order: SVU, Holli played a pregnant 12 year old, the illegal wife of a cult leader whom she finally shoots, in what lead Marishka Haggerty called "an Emmy-worthy performance in her favorite episode".  In Medium, Holli plays a recurring role as the best friend of Patricia Arquette's daughter.   Touched by an Angel tapped Holliston for one of the biggest roles they've ever offered a child, calling for virtually continuous screen time as a near-orphan guided by angels in her search for her missing father.  In Judging Amy, Holliston portrayed a difficult, emotionally charged based-on-truth story of a disturbed young girl whose mother eventually murdered her.  In Ally McBeal, Holliston played a young girl torn by her father's infidelity to her mother, and in ER, Holliston was asked to portray a young girl driven to kill her father in self-defense.

Holliston's film experiences also include Supreme Sanction, in which she played opposite Michael Madsen and David Dukes as the daughter of a man pursued by assassins, and Norman Jewison's Emmy-nominated Dinner with Friends, based on the Pulitzer Prize winning play of the same name.  In Dinner with Friends, Holliston had the privilege of acting as the daughter of Academy Award nominee Toni Colette and Academy Award nominee Greg Kinnear, as well as with Dennis Quaid and Andie MacDowell.

Holliston has extensive international experience.  She filmed Bless the Child for four months in Canada, and recently traveled to Sofia, Bulgaria to film Run for the Money, an action-drama with Christian Slater, Val Kilmer, and Daryl Hannah.  Holliston portrayed Slater's daughter, kidnapped by Kilmer.

Holliston has already accumulated a rich variety of experiences in film making.  She has acted around fire and explosions, participated in car chase and accident stunts, had a full body double cast made (requiring her to be still while her entire head and body were wrapped in plaster), was in a harness two stories high against a green screen background (she did flips in the harness between takes for fun), has been filmed underwater, remained motionless for over an hour while special CG cameras were programmed frame by frame, acted against non-existent CG creatures, and acted under huge wind fans and rain-making equipment.  Holliston has also acted with animals and birds, both live and animatronic.

For her title roles in Bless the Child, Holliston was honored with a prestigious Saturn Award nomination for Best Performance by a Younger Actor from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films.  For her title roles in both Bless the Child and Miss Lettie and Me, Holliston received Young Artist Award nominations for Best Performance.  In honor of her inspiring role as Cody in Bless the Child, Holliston was asked to be a Presenter at the televised Family Film Awards.

In spite of Holliston's interesting and busy life as an actress, she remains a normal kid with an array of friends from church and neighborhood, and has surrounded herself with a variety of pets and outside activities.  Holli and her family have owned and loved pets including: dogs, cats, rabbits, sheep, chinchillas, hedgehogs, parrots, guinea pigs, mice, lizards, frogs, fish, and a large tortoise.  Holli is currently taking swim and diving training at the Olympic Rose Bowl Aquatic Center.  She also takes gymnastics and piano lessons.  Holli loves to sing and dance.

Holli enjoys learning new accents for her potential roles.  She has been tutored by Robert Easton, the renowned "Henry Higgins of Hollywood" for various accents from Irish to Santa-Fe Western.  Easton says Holliston is a quick study with an excellent ear and a remarkable ability to pick up the nuances of language.

PROVING GROUND: From the Adventures of Captain Redlocks was written explicitly by Kevin M. Kraft for Holli. “There is no Captain Redlocks without Holli,” proclaims Kraft.

Holli home-schools year-round with her mother Doris (a former writing instructor at USC and Cal State University, Northridge), her father Bob (a Caltech grad and software development engineer), and her younger brother Bobby, whom she in turn is helping to educate.

Bobby Coleman as Noah Stephenson

Bobby Coleman grew up on film and tv sets, watching his sister Holliston Coleman (Bless the Child, Miss Lettie and Me) act.     When he turned five, he wanted to follow in his sister's footsteps, and begandoing a wide variety of commercials.  At six, he began doing guest roles on TV shows, and, like his sister, tended to be chosen for dramatic roles rather than sitcoms.  In Dragnet, he was a little boy stolen by his father, and in Medium's second-season premiere, he played a young boy forcibly abducted, whose pinky finger was cut off on-screen in a very dramatic scene.  In Jag, he played a boy hiding a pet cat whose discovery solved the case.   At seven, Bobby began doing big-screen film work.  His role as Austin in Must Love Dogs (Diane Lane, John Cusack, Dermot Mulroney, Christopher Plummer) gave him quite a bit of on-set filming experience, and included a stunt scene in which he is hit in the face, giving him a bloody nose [Box Office Mojo: “Dermot Mulroney's…son (Bobby Coleman and can this cute kid act) gets a nosebleed…”].  Bobby enjoyed filming that scene quite a bit!  His next film (not yet released) was Friends with Money (Jennifer Aniston, Joan Cusack), and almost immediately after filming that, Bobby was chosen for a regular role on the new TV sci-fi series Surface,  now airing on NBC Monday nights.  Since the pilot was picked up, Bobby has resided both in Los Angeles and in Willmington, North Carolina, where Surface is filmed.  Fortunately, Bobby loves to fly, always choosing a window seat!  So far, Bobby, who plays main character Lake Bell's son in Surface, has been in most episodes.  Off set, Bobby has had a chance to play with the mock-up of the baby sea monster the mystery of the show and has had a wonderful chance to try boogie-boarding at Wilmington's beautiful  beaches, fossil hunting in abandoned quarries, learning skateboarding, and of course has gained a lot of  film experience.   Just after the Surface pilot was filmed, Bobby began auditioning among thousands of boys as part of an extensive, international search for the title lead in the film Martian Child (New Line Cinema, 2006).  The film is about a disturbed young boy adopted by a science fiction writer (John Cusack).  It required a subtle portrayal with a lot of internal and dramatic acting.  The casting process was difficult and extensive, but eventually Bobby was chosen. It was an eerie déjà vu  for the family, because at almost the same age, Bobby's sister Holli had been chosen for the title lead in Bless the Child, a similar film about a disturbed child with intriguing powers.   Bobby filmed Martian Child in Vancouver, B.C. for almost three months, working virtually every day.  The work was intense, requiring Bobby to assume a persona completely the opposite of his own.  A neighborhood mom watching the filming one day expressed aloud that Bobby must be a very difficult child for his mom because of his silent intensity.  His mother was in ear range and burst out laughing, because Bobby normally is the oppositea crazy, happy, chattering dynamo.  But the comment was a tribute to Bobby's acting and his ability to make the character of Dennis believable.   John Cusack said of Bobby's acting in an interview: “[Speaking of] talent…I'm working with this little kid in Vancouver, Bobby Coleman,  and he's this remarkable little guy [with] fantastic instincts.” Bobby Coleman SAG Hair:  Sandy   Eyes: Hazel   DOB: 5/05/97   Height: 48"   Weight: 48 lbs     Coast to Coast Talent Group, Meredith Fine    (323) 845-9200
